Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that provides nutrition education, counseling, and healthy foods to help low-income mothers, infants, and children get the nutrients they need for proper growth and development.
WIC also provides breastfeeding education and support, along with screening and referrals to other health or social services. WIC is a Federal Grant Program funded by the Food and Nutrition Services of the USDA. WIC is not an entitlement program.
You could be eligible for WIC if you:
- are pregnant
- are breastfeeding (up to 12 months after delivery)
- are postpartum (up to 6 months after delivery)
- are an infant or child up to 5 years of age
- meet the Illinois WIC income guidelines (you may still be eligible even with a job)

WIC is scheduled by appointment only. Early appointments starting at 7:45 AM are available one Tuesday a month.

To file a program discrimination complaint, a Complainant should complete a Form AD-3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form which can be obtained online at: https://www.usda.gov/sites/default/files/documents/USDA-OASCR%20P-Complaint-Form-0508-0002-508-11-28-17Fax2Mail.pdf, from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
